Seasons

Who would have thought that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory could lead you on a serious journey into a spiritual insight? Not I, for one. 

After watching said movie and promptly following the viewing of that movie with a nap, I woke up to a most annoying alarm with a smile on my face. Why? Family. In the movie, Willy Wonka does not have happy memories of a family. He thinks that all they do is impose rules on you out of spite, but Charlie sets him straight. In the end, they enjoy Charlie's family together. While lying there immediately following the movie, waiting to be hit by sleep, a most beautiful thought came to me: I am a part of God's family. Me, Cayla Renae Schlamp, a part of the Creator of the universe's family. By blood. WHAT?! Hwoah.

ZZZZZZZ

Then when I woke up, I had to burst into song because God is just that awesome! I started singing an older song,

"Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
Oh God, You are my God
And I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
And I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You'll lead me
And I will follow You all of my days"

Then it hit me: step by step. Step by step!! He has every step of my life figured out, but He only reveals steps to me because my tiny little human mind would completely and absolutely freak out if I were to know every step of my life! I'm in Grimshaw, that's a step. I'm single, that's a step. My family, my church, and my friends are the most important blessings in my life - at this step, this season. Step by step He will lead me and guide me by His Spirit.

So this season, I will choose to rejoice where I'm at in whatever step God has me take next. What will you do with this step in your life?
